Mentoring Programs

When caring adults want to volunteer in schools, they are encouraged to participate in InspireU, a CIS of Chicago mentoring programs for middle-school students.

InspireU mentors meet with seventh and eighth graders at a corporate office monthly for lunch and for conversations that focus on college and career readiness. Topics include: learning styles; goal setting; high-school preparedness; soft-skill building; and college tours. Students also tour the corporate office and learn about their mentors’ careers.

During the 2017-2018 school year, its third year of programming, InspireU was sponsored by Capital One at Westcott and Ruggles elementary schools. The 34 participating students logged 459 hours at the InspireU sites, mentored by 66 corporate volunteers.
