CIS’ Chief Partnership Engagement Officer Robin Koelsch joins ABC 7 for a live interview and discusses students’ needs this back-to-school season. According to Robin, requests for daily essentials like clothes and hygiene products have increased since the pandemic. The backpack is an annual need, Robin said, but soap, toothpaste, and other hygiene products are ongoing needs.
In response, the CIS team is working to connect Chicago Public Schools in its partner network with more basic necessities. In addition, CIS of Chicago is investing in a new staff member who will help link schools with community organizations who have these resources.
