Chalkbeat: COVID Surges, ‘Re-entry Anxiety’ Hamper Chicago’s Efforts to Boost Attendance

CIS of Chicago’s Senior Director of Intensive Student Supports, Lo Patrick, chatted with Chalkbeat about the work our team is doing to promote student attendance.

CIS team members are supporting students as they experience “re-entry anxiety” and readjust to the routines of in-person school, Lo said. They’re also helping students build positive relationships with adults in the school setting.

“Knowing there’s a friendly face that cares about you and notices whether you are at school on any given day makes a huge difference that’s often overlooked,” Lo shared.
