Damiya Myers, Do the Write Thing Chicago’s 2026 ambassador, visited the NBC studios to discuss her winning essay, which will be held in the Library of Congress, on the causes of and solutions to youth violence. During the interview, Damiya shared that young people need more support and that Chicago’s leaders could benefit from learning what young people are experiencing.
CIS’ Chief Partnership Engagement Officer Robin Koelsch joined Damiya in the interview to discuss CIS’ role as co-sponsor of the writing challenge.
