WBEZ: The Toll Witnessing Gun Violence Takes on Young People

Half of Chicagoans witness a shooting by age 40 and the average age for witnessing a shooting is just 14, according to a recent study by the Journal of the American Medical Association.

CIS’ Clinical Director and Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Judith Allen, sat down with WBEZ’s Sasha-Ann Simons to discuss the impact of pervasive gun violence on child development and what can be done to support our young people and their families.
