Damiya Myers, the 2026 Do the Write Thing ambassador, and CIS’ Robin Koelsch chatted with Lisa Dent from WGN about Damiya’s powerful essay, which was selected from nearly 1,000 student writings to represent Chicago at the Do the Write Thing National Summit this July.
Lisa read Damiya’s full essay during the interview and asked Damiya about her experiences. She also asked Robin about CIS’ role in the Do the Write Thing challenge and about the importance of adults listening and responding to young people.
